Now we're talking snow... 8 inches/20cm in 24 hours. And more is forecasted for the weekend. The nice dry snow was light enough for me to shovel so I had a bit of a workout this morning, before I went for rehab exercise.

Saw an email today that went like this: "the shortest book in the Bible is Palms 117; the longest is Psalms 119; the middle book is Psalms 118; 594 chapters before and after Psalms 118; 594+594=1188; that's 118:8. Psalms 118:8 reads "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
All good and well, but checking verse counts, shows that (depending on version) the centre verse of the Bible is Psalms 103:1... NOT 118:8!
This email has gone around for a while, and as a Christian, I need to debunk this untruth.

Heart Issues
Week 2 at work has not been too bad. I am getting used to a schedule again. Earlier to bed for me...
Progress at the rehab. I've moved from walking 2.5 mph on the treadmill to 3 mph. Getting a better workout...
Tried the treadmill at home yesterday, but it did not work very well for me. The TM is on a fixed incline and the belt slips. I had to quit after 15 minutes. The recumbent bikes at rehab give me a good workout, so I am considering getting one. I may also get a heart monitor. I've been having trouble taking my pulse.

Heart Issues
Went shopping today and purchased a training bike at Physique Fitness. The model I got was a Vision 2200HRT. This model comes with a chest-belt heart monitor that will increase or decrease the exercise depending on my heart rate. Pretty cool technology. It will be delivered next Tuesday. I'm happy with the model I picked. It is versatile enough to give me a good workout, once I'm ready to push myself more. The cardiac rehab has helped me evaluate equipment and my ability to use it. Rehab gets high marks in my book.
Also bought a heart rate monitor for when I go on walks. I know I can just take my pulse, but I don't find the "manual" method reliable. Perhaps with the gadget and taking my pulse manually, I'll get half decent readings. I'm already getting fairly good at judging my heart rate when I exercise, so perhaps I should consider these other methods as learning tools.

I have put up a calculator based on the Karvonen Formula. Let me know what you think.

This week has not been too bad at work. Trying to figure out which Linux distro will run our intranet server. Looks like Suse 9 is the winner.
Exercise is going ok too. Got the bike delivered on Tuesday and used it that day and Thursday. Wed/Friday were exercise sessions at the Glenrose. All in all, got quite a bit of exercise done this week.
Had quite a lot of snow this week. More than Dec-Feb put together. Great for the gardens. Just sloppy on the roads.

Technology
Almost right after yesterday's post, Windows blew up on my laptop. There was no saving it. So now I'm reinstalling everything. It's amazing how much one can accumulate on a computer in almost two years. A good time to start fresh, it's just darn inconvenient. I'd rather pick a time myself and not be forced into it. My biggest obstacle at the moment is that my wireless does not want to work. I'm sure I'll eventually figure it out...

Technology
Finally got my laptop back up and running, although it's hard to re-install every single program I used in the past two years. Just copying files back from a variety of sources, so I can get back to working on my websites.

I was sent a link to some cheesy music videos. One I have to share. It's by Gunther from Germany. He sings in English, "you touch my tralala..."

Saturday morning after 2PM it started snowing in earnest. Got more than 13 inches/33 cm in about 12 hours.
Barely got out of the driveway and got stuck in the condo road. Too much snow on top of ice. Drove out on the highway to lose some snow off the car, got back into town, filled up with gas and barely made it back into my driveway. I hope the condo road gets cleared tonight or I may have to stay home tomorrow. Seems the neighbours are shovelling their snow onto the road...

Heart Issues
Got permission from my doctor to go back to work fulltime, so I'm starting Monday.
My CEA test (cancer checkup) was also good.

Apparently I have missed some messages due to my computer crash. The wonders of technology...
Anyway, if you have emailed me since my laptop crash and have not received a reply, please re-send your message.

Health General
I've been back at work fulltime since Monday. Yesterday was rough. Today was much better. Still, I went home at 3pm. I was just pooped. Accomplished quite a bit of work, but I find I have no energy left when I get home, to do much of anything. So I just veg...
Nice weekend coming up, so perhaps I can do something outside.
