Today the cops were not out for a crime, but for an accident. A semi was unloading its cargo at Safeway across the road, had unhooked the trailer and left the truck in gear and not put on the brakes.
It seems only logical that the truck cab went for "a stroll"... It ended up in our complex rear-ending a truck, pushing it right into the house.
Things could have been a lot worse as the truck that was hit had a propane tank in the back, and the natural gas meter was just a few feet away.

Interestingly, I heard the noise of the impact, but thought it was the neighbours making noise. I guess not...

No noises, no cops...
Sorry, neighbours, not talking about "global peace"...
Indeed, the past week has been quiet. Just this morning at 3:30 a bunch of ignorant young people made their way through our complex, yelling and screaming. They were moving too fast for a 911 call and I think they knew it.

Technology
Fifteen years ago, Tim Berners-Lee formally introduced hypertext to the world on the alt.hypertext newsgroup. His aim was to link information from anywhere. He made the tools available to use hypertext on the internet. The world has not been the same since.

Cooking, recipes, diet, etc.
As I am writing this, I am slowcooking the awesoment ribs I've done in a while. Phil K (Mr 30) put me on to the Spices Etc. website, and I finally ordered some of their products.
Today, I grabbed some frozen ribs from the freezer (not sure if they are pork or beef ribs, but suspect pork ribs). Got a bowl (about 2 cups) with water and added pork stock powder, mesquite smoke powder, and burgundy powder. These powders start clumping when water is added, so I had to stir and use a fork to break up clumps.
Put the ribs and the liquid in the slowcooker, and then added a whole onion, half a garlic bulb (yeah, that's a lot), some brown sugar, thyme, pepper, salt, and a dash of allspice and some of "Momma's Steak Seasoning".
I've done the taste test and wonder if it goes better with rice or new potatoes. I lean toward potatoes.

Heart Issues
Today I had my follow-up stress test from cardiac rehab this past winter. While my blood pressure was still high, and I need to lose weight, the test itself was good. So I am now officially discharged as an outpatient.
An early night, one more day of work, then on vacation until September 5th. Oh yeah, dentist on Friday...

Health General
It's been a while since I've seen the dentist. Some other things took priority the past few years, but now it's time to fix the choppers. Got quite a few cavities, but nothing else wrong. So in a month, I should be as good as new. Have to take antibiotics before each appointment though, to make sure no bacteria enter the bloodstream.

All You Need Is DOS
(With apologies to Lennon/McCartney)
Jeff Emsley - 2006
DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS.
There's nothing you can install that can't be batched.
No XCOPY that can't be matched.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to write the code
It's easy.
There's no memory you can't LOADHIGH, and FIXBOOT will work if you just try
And if your computer has lag, just DEFRAG
It's easy.
All you need is DOS, all you need is DOS,
All you need is DOS, DOS, DOS is all you need.
DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS, DOS.
All you need is DOS, all you need is DOS,
All you need is DOS, DOS, DOS is all you need.
To see an IP you can just PING it.
To see what is happening use ECHO, you don't have to wing it.
No more cut and paste, just MOVE it.
It's easy.
All you need is DOS, all you need is DOS,
All you need is DOS, DOS, DOS is all you need.
All you need is DOS (all together now)
All you need is DOS (everybody)
All you need is DOS, DOS, DOS is all you need.
This was written for a person who does not understand how DOS batch files can make life MUCH easier when doing over 100 installs of a particular software package.

Lilies
Today I have been "working up a sweat" and clearing a square yard of quack grass so I can plant lilies. I was surprised it was 30°C at 3PM.
Moved poor 'Pup Art', which had been in a pot since I bought it, and it is trying to set seed in 2 pods.
I had planned to get a fridge to store bulbs but I may not have to. I may have enough space after all.

Sitting in the backyard with the laptop, enjoying the nice weather, cooling off from the 30°C we had today. It's 9:15PM and just the occasional mosquito is buzzing me. Temps have dropped to a non-sweating level.
Had a mouse "buzz" me today. Was pulling weeds out of the flower box and here this mouse runs right in front of me. I pounded the soil where it disappeared but that likely did not do much. Gotta set more traps. Perhaps some poison...

Enjoying life till it hurts... After yesterday's garden work, my back aches like I'm an old man. Maybe I am...
