These last couple of weeks have marked one of the highlights of the year for our company. Next to Capital EX in July, the Canadian Finals Rodeo and FarmFair International are two simultaneous major events we host.

Unfortunately, with turning the AgriCom into a huge barn, the temperature is kept lower to accommodate the animals. That means us humans are not comfortable in our offices. The office environment is aggravated with airborne dust and animal dander.

This morning I felt the effects of 4 days in an under-cooled and dirty office. I did not sleep well and my bowels started to react rather violently. Not to speak of my throat being sore.

Next year I will need to make a move to a different building for the 2 weeks of FFI and CFR. 

Thanks to Cecile's niece, I am now a "hyves" junkie. Hyves is the Dutch equivalent of Facebook and equally time-wasting.

Nevertheless, it's one way to keep in touch with family, and possibly friends of the old days. 

Yesterday it first snowed, then the temperature dropped overnight. This morning I left the house in -18° Celsius (0°F) and it warmed up to only -15°C. With the wind chill, it felt like -26°C. I did not pay attention to weather forecasts this weekend, so that was a rude reality check.

The "cool" scene is the result of an Arctic high that usually hangs around for 10 days.

I'm glad to get this one out of the way early. In January or February, these Arctic highs are typically 10 degrees C colder, -30°C...
