Hips

Health General

Went for my physio assessment today, and the therapist figures I have two problems, none related to the joints.

First problem is my lower back, which was identified as a problem area at the same time I was diagnosed with cancer. Cancer treatment had priority, of course, so nothing was done about the back.

Second problem is that the bursitis is still there. So the treatment today after the assessment, was to have heat on my back and ice on the bursitis spot for 15-20 minutes. Then lower back massage and after that some leg exercise on a large ball, rolling my legs back and forth.

Going back on Monday for the second session...

I feel good about this approach. It is in line what I thought was happening, at least the back part. I think we can make real progress.

Ditz

Humour

Today I feel like a total ditz. I was looking for my staff pass (otherwise I won't get into our office area) and could not find it. Check all the places I could have left it, including the car. Nothing.

On the way to work, I stopped at the physiotherapy place to ask if they had found it. No, it wasn't turned in...

So I get to work and hope someone can let me in. As I get to the door, out of habit I reach into my pants pocket, and you guessed it, there was my pass.

I normally take my stuff out of my pockets, but must have forgotten that yesterday.

Brain must be working too hard, or is distracted... ;-)

Operation

Cancer

Gay is getting operated on today in Melbourne, Australia. Over there it is the 18th already, early morning...

Prayer has been requested on her behalf.

God Is Great

Cancer

Just heard from Joy that Gay is safely in post-op. No complications. They were able to remove the tumour intact without need to remove a kidney or the colon. She won't need a stoma after all. Isn't that fantastic? Another cancer beaten. If my leg muscles were not so sore, I would jump for joy.

Thank you so much for your prayers, also on behalf of Joy.

Follow Up

Cancer

Initially, I understood the cancer that was removed was FIVE kilograms. Then thought perhaps it might be 5 lbs. Today it was confirmed that it was indeed 5 kg, 11 lbs. The tumour had pushed the stomach and the intestines out of the way, causing constipation and inability to eat much.

Imagine 11 lbs and compare that to a newborn baby...

Back And Snow

Health General

Here I was blaming my sore back yesterday on the results of physio therapy.

NOT!!! It's a regular blizzard today. It's the old arthritis acting up... Oh well... Must move to a no-blizzard country.

Back

Health General

Today my back is fine. The low pressure weather system has been replaced with an arctic high.

Temperature was -31C as I drove to work, with a wind chill of -48C. Sure not pleasant.
